Journal Entry 'The Glass Castle"

"He had arranged to have himself fired because he wanted to spend more time looking for gold. He had all sorts of plans to make money, she added, inventions he was working on, odd jobs he had lined up." pg. 67. This quote is all about chasing your dreams and letting nothing stand in your way.

To chase his dream of finding gold he had to give up a seemingly perfectly good life to chase down his goals of striking it rich. One thing that I have learned from Rex Walls is that it doesn't matter how good your life is; it isn't fulfilled until your dream is achieved. I believe that we are all guilty of not chasing down or dreams and constantly making compromises until what we end up with is nothing like what set out to do. One of the main factors to this is that some of us let money get in the way. Rex gave up his well paying job in order to put all his time into inventing his prospector. My dream has always been to be a heli-ski guide but the direction I'm heading it seems like my dream will never happen. Instead I plan to do the safer career path and go to school and get a well paying job. This is a personal example of how money got in the way and not taking the first step of to pursue it. To chase your dreams some risks have to be taken. Rex walls knew this and had many obstacles to over come. It is clear that he will give anything to achieve it and never look back. He has devoted his life to achieving his goal showing us how to live for our dream as well.

What Super Power would you have?

If I could have any super power it would defiantly be a shape shifter. I would choose this because there are no limits to this power and almost impossible to defeat. If I needed to fly I would just turn into an eagle, if someone pointed a gun at me I would simply turn into a small pebble and if needed to run really fast I could transform in to a cheetah. Another advantage to this power is I could never be found cause i am constantly changing and my I.Q would be as high as anyone’s I want it to be. Ultimately i would be unstoppable because there are simply no limitations to this power.

Head Jon Olson Pro Models Reveiw

The Head Jon Olson Pro Models are ski's that are capable of handling any terrain, jump or rail you can throw at it. These skis are durable yet ride very smooth and since they were designed for a pro skier they you can expect top of the line performance.



The Jon Olson's have many advantages over other ski's. One is it has curved side walls that allow you to carve deeper and not loose you edge. This type of edge also lets you handle ice better and also is less prone to chipping of the design. The skis also have a more stiff core which allows you to go at higher speeds and not get flapping of the tips and since they don't flex as much in the moguls they are easier to handle. Also the design on the top has two Swedish twins posing which is very appealing. One of the major uses for these skis is for park so of course they a twin tipped so that the tips are no different from the tails. One of the greatest features of these skis is they are one of the lightest park skis on the market. Since they are so light they are considered to be the fastest and easiest ski to spin on.

Even though the Jon Olson's are full of pros there still are some cons. One is that they are quite thin so they don't stay on top of the powder as much as other skis and since they are a stiff ski they are very unforgiving on landings. If you land forward or sitting back to far then they don't flex as much and correct you the bindings may instead release, sending you tumbling.


The Jon Olson Pro Models will rarely let you down and the pros far out way the cons. The great thing about these skis is the very wide range of uses it has. It doesn't matter what level of skier you are these skis are perfect for you.

If you could invent something to help man kind what would it be.

If I could invent something to help man kind prosper it would be a a faster and more efficient vehicle. This vehicle would be a lot smaller than today's cars and be controlled by its computer so there is no need to drive it. There would be many advantages to having the computer control the vehicles because they would be allot safer and it could drive much faster. There would also be less traffic jams because instead of the cars working individually they would instead work in unison like a train. Crime would also be drastically cut down because they could not use the car as a get away vehicle because the cops could simply change their intended course to the police station. This invention would decrease vehicle related fatality's to almost none because there would be no speeding, drunk driving road rage and no falling a sleep at the wheel. These cars will also be green because they will run of electricity and will never have to charged because it will use the wheels rotation to charge its battery. The advantage to this is there would be no burning of fossil fuel and hopefully slow the effects of climate change. Some other advantages are that roads wouldn't have to be as wide because there would be no bad drivers and no parking lots would be needed because the car could just drive around until you need it. Unfortunately there are some disadvantages to this car some jobs would not be needed any more and many people like driving and would not like the idea. But many jobs would be created from this vehicle and you would end up with more free time to other stuff. In conclusion the advantages to this vehicle are endless and it would solve many problems.

My Top 3 Bike's

My top 3 bikes are the Transition bottle rocket, Specialized SX trail and the Santa Cruiz Bullit in that order. These bikes are similar in the way that they are all full-suspensions but have unique geometry and different components.

I would choose the bottle rocket over the others because it is lightest weight yet has the same amount of suspension as the rest. Even though it is light weight it does not loose its strength this is good for myself because I do cross-country riding as well as jumping this would be the perfect in between trust worthy bike for me the only down side to this bike is it is hard to find a dealer and i would have to get it shipped. My second choice is the SX trail which is a bike made for jumps but is pretty heavy for cross-country. This bike has some of the best components but is the most expensive. My third choice is a bike made for DH the Bullit is a tank of a bike but is the cheapest. My main reason for this bikes ranking is it would not be practical for cross-country but other than its weight it is a very good bike for its price.

These are all bikes i would deferentially consider buying but if it is possible to ship the bottle rocket in it will be my number 1 choice.
